WOODRIVER CELLARS WINES CAPTURE FOUR MORE AWARDS AT 2009 WEST COAST WINE COMPETITION
Woodriver Cellars New Non-Vintage Dessert Wine, 2006 Cab-Malbec and 2008 Riesling Earn Silver Medals While Its 2007 Riesling Grabs Bronze Honors
Eagle, Idaho, June 16, 2009 – Woodriver Cellars (www.woodrivercellars.com) wines earned four more medals, this time at the West Coast Wine Competition, which took place in Rohnert Park, California, north of San Francisco. Vineyard & Winery Management Magazine conducts this prestigious competition and Woodriver Cellars picked up three silver and one bronze medal. Silver medal winners included the new non-vintage dessert wine, which has captured everyone’s attention and has been selling extremely well since its release on May 29th. Other silver medalists included WRC’s ’06 Cabernet Malbec blend and the ’08 Riesling. The winery’s ’07 Riesling earned a bronze medal at the West Coast Wine Competition.
“We are really pleased to have earned four medals at the West Coast Wine Competition,” Woodriver Cellars winemaker Neil Glancey stated. “To me it’s important that our new Dessert Wine and our Cab-Malbec were recognized with silver medal awards. The Cab-Malbec is just starting to age nicely and we all think the Dessert Wine is special. Earlier in the week we had temporarily sold out on that one, which reflects how popular it is becoming. As far as the Rieslings go, we have to very different versions in the 2007 and 2008 years. The 2007 is more of a traditional Auslese Riesling with only 1% residual sugar. The 2008 will be more familiar to most Riesling lovers as it has 3-4% residual sugar which really brings out the tropical fruit flavors on the tongue. It’s an honor to be recognized once again and we appreciate the judging committee for its consideration.”
