“CALLING ALL ARTISTS: AN EVENING Q & A WITH A CURATOR” SET FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 27TH AT WOODRIVER CELLARS

Co-Sponsors Woodriver Cellars and Wingtip Press Announce Presentation by Local Curator Amy Pence-Brown Designed To Help Artists Get Their Art Shown

Eagle, Idaho, May 14, 2009 – Woodriver Cellars (www.woodrivercellars.com) and Wingtip Press are putting out the word to any and all Boise area artists about an event which  will be held at the winery on Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 from 7-9pm. “Calling All Artists: An Evening Q & A with a Curator” will be hosted by local art curator Amy Pence-Brown and will offer artists a chance to learn first-hand the nitty-gritty on how to get their art work shown. Amy is very supportive of artists and will provide those in attendance with valuable insight on how to write an artist statement, how to best put together a portfolio, what a curator does and what they are looking for and, in general, how an artist can best present themselves and their art. Fine arts and fine wine go together so a splendid time is guaranteed for all. This educational opportunity is free to the public and is co-sponsored by Woodriver Cellars and Wingtip Press. Those planning to attend are invited to come early, have a glass of Idaho’s finest wine and tour the winery grounds. Woodriver Cellars is dedicated to helping and highlighting local artists. The Woodriver Cellars Monthly Gallery program shows the works of different Idaho artists each month and the winery will soon be announcing plans to create an onsite Artist Gallery / Studio Co-op Venture where artists can work, share ideas and display their wares.

“We are thrilled to offer this rare opportunity for local artists to get direct insights and have their questions answered by someone like Amy,” Woodriver Cellars General Manager Kristin Dudley stated. “Woodriver Cellars really believes in supporting local artists and the arts and to be able to help present a forum where artists can meet a curator in an informal setting can only help them further their careers. In talking with her while we planned the event, it’s clear that Amy loves art and really supports artists. Woodriver Cellars and our co-sponsor, Wingtip Press, are looking forward to bringing everyone together. I hope that we see a lot of artists that night. It’s free and, we believe, it’s a great opportunity for any artist or even aspiring artists.”

“I am really excited to be asked to host such a unique event,” Pence-Brown observed. “Woodriver Cellars already has a great program for artists with its Monthly Gallery and the plan they have for a building devoted to the arts as a studio/gallery type venue is really timely in that the Arts in Boise are going through a tough time right now. I think it’s really important for artists to take advantage of an opportunity like this to not only ‘pick my brain’ but to find out about Woodriver Cellars arts programs. Art lovers and wine lovers have a lot in common and the combo should make for a great evening. I really appreciate what Woodriver Cellars is currently doing for the local art community and all artists should come out, have a great time and learn a little more about the winery’s commitment to the arts. My thanks go out to Wingtip Press as well.”
