WOODRIVER CELLARS WINES PICK UP THREE MORE AWARDS AT THE 2009 IDAHO WINE FESTIVAL
2005 Meritage, 2007 Pinot Rose and Non-Vintage Ruby Port Take State Honors
Eagle, Idaho, April 28, 2009 – Woodriver Cellars (www.woodrivercellars.com) announced today that it has received three more awards for its wines. This time the ribbons were earned at the 2009 Idaho Wine Festival, which was judged last week in Boise. Three hundred wines from thirty-eight Idaho wineries participated in the competition. Woodriver Cellars’ 2005 Meritage, a red wine blend of the four bourdeaux grapes, earned a silver medal. The 2007 Pinot Rose, an off-dry, well-balanced rose (rosay) with real fruitiness on the nose, earned a bronze. Also earning a bronze medal was Woodriver Cellars' new, non-vintage port. This Port seems to be achieving a regional cult status following already. Black fruit and berry flavors and a chocolate/coffee nose make this Port a true experience for all. Even people that don't like Port, love the new WRC Ruby Port. Expect to hear more from this winner in the weeks and months to come.
“It’s very important for us to have our wines awarded at the Idaho Wine Festival competition, which is our biggest regional wine event,” Woodriver Cellars winemaker Neil Glancey stated. “The 2005 Meritage has already been awarded this year at the San Francisco Chronicle wine competition so it is great to see it receive another honor. The Meritage features dark cherry flavors and has been in the bottle about a year now so it is really starting to ‘open up nicely’. The 2007 Pinot Rose is a newer release and the Ruby Port is really something special. Thanks to the judges at the Idaho Wine Festival. We really believe that we are the up and coming winery in the state.”

Woodriver Cellars is the best kept secret among Idaho’s fine wineries. Located at an optimal 2,200 foot elevation at the heart of the Snake River Appellation and using sustainable environmental practices, Woodriver Cellars has gained a reputation for creating unique, award-winning wines from what many call the best grapes in Idaho. Celebrated winemaker Neil Glancey takes advantage of Woodriver vineyard’s optimal rocky, Bordeaux-like soil and limits harvests to two tons per acre to produce memorable wines with intense fruit flavors that stay in the minds of wine lovers long after they have finished a bottle. Woodriver Cellars limits its wine production each year and, as such, Woodriver Cellars wines are available only at selected restaurants, the winery or via its website, www.woodrivercellars.com.
